Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East London and Surrey.
Week 330 Saturday 10th until Friday 16thOctober 2020.

Due to a tech issue I can’t use a lot of the pictures I wanted, plus the blog does look a little different this week (maybe its better like this). Hopefully next week will be back to normal.

Last Saturday I visited a 19yr old, who for 14 years lived with me, he really was my constant companion in a lovely flat in Surrey. Spike is a beautiful black cat who I met when he was one day old with his two sisters. The reason he doesn’t live with me anymore is simply because I had the opportunity to go travelling, and I really had to go. Luckily a couple of work colleague were able to take him. I regard this as his well-earned retirement; he now lives in a lovely house with a garden with people who adore him. For 19 he is in pretty good health, his main issues are his eyes.

Seeing “the boy” is always emotional. I think of the good times, all the unconditional love he gave me, the occasions I spent looking for him around the flat, worrying that he escaped, only to find him relaxing asleep on top of an open door. Or the times I helped to remove his paw from the video recorder (remember them kids) because he was bored while I yakked away on the phone. He knew I would have to end the call straight away and attend to him. He was, and still is, a clever boy.

He really did look after me and kept me sane; I have so much to thank him for. The fact that he is, in my opinion, having a even better life with my friends makes me so pleased. I think of Spike often, especially when I see another black cat.

He is older and slower now. As I am planning on going away next year I have to make the effort to visit him more often. I have faced up to the upsetting fact that he probably won’t be here when I return, but there will always be a small purry place in my heart for this very special black cat.
And Finally……
After reading a headline about the American president, I looked up at and said to my friend “President crump“. It was an honest mistake, if the White House is monitoring this ramble.

This week I managed to get tickets for two big theatre productions in Jan and May next year. Fingers crossed that nothing gets cancelled.

Oh, I sneezed into my own mask. It wasn’t the nice “Doctor Who” one, it just the normal blue paper type.
