Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East London.
Week 394, Saturday 1st until Friday 7th January 2022.

By the time this is published New Year will seem like a long time ago; however you celebrated I hope it went well. Because this is the start of the year, it’s another excuse for a slightly shorter blog and the traditional look back at the previous year’s stats.

Once again I didn’t miss a single week of last year, the majority were published on a Friday but some were admittedly a few days late, but each week there was a new blog. 2021 started with blog 341 on 1st January and ended with number week 393 published on the last day of December. Writing this blog is always fun and a little challenging because on the day after publishing a new one I start to think ‘what can I write about next week’. It’s always very personal because I am writing essentially for my nephews and niece. This blog commenced when I was living and working in Mozambique during 2014, my thinking was that that someday in the future small members of the family might want to read about my adventures abroad. Once I started as you can see it never stopped. I like to think of this as a written Time Capsule (with pictures) for my sister and brothers children and maybe grandchildren in the future.

For the last few months I have felt that week 400 due on 18th February 2022 will be the last ramble. Personally I am still unsure what to do, if this version does come to an end, I could possibly come up with something more themed once or twice a month that might appeal to a bigger audience. This year I have plans and objectives which will need a lot of my time, time I would normally devote to writing this. These next few weeks I really do need to consider what is more important to me.

My head is constantly spinning with ideas for stories that I want to turn into short film scripts (next to me as I type is a pile already completed). A couple of years ago I sent scripts off to a number of agents unsuccessfully, this is something I would like to try again. Something I have considered is filming and editing one of my favourite scripts myself, partly to prove I can do it, but also the finished product could be shown to agents and other industry professionals as a proof of concept. I would like to have more time to draw and paint which I didn’t do as often last year as I would have liked. Later this year I want to travel abroad once again, this will need a lot of time to plan. I suppose I shouldn’t forget normal boring work that actually pays me money to keep dreaming. All of the above take time, time that I have used these last few years to write this weekly. As you can see I do have a lot to consider these next few weeks.

Before this week comes to a close, here are the stats for 2021.

In 2020 this blog got a total number of views of 2,712. Last year the ramble managed to get 2,951 which is 239 more than the previous year (about 8%).

In 2020 people from 42 different countries passed by. During 2021 that number fell slightly to a still respectable 36.

I am not a competitive person in anything I do, apart from this blog always hoping that I get a few views that add up to beating the previous year.

That’s it for the first week of 2022, next week will be back to normal I suspect. When I have made decisions about what the future holds, you will be one of the first I tell.
