Week 392, Saturday 18^th until Friday 24^th December 2021.

There are now Eight weeks left of this ramble.

Due to all the final Crimbo madness, this ramble maybe a little shorter.  Plus I have spent a lot of time making something special for my mum, a picture will appear in next week’s Crimbo Blog.

And Now This……

Earlier this week I noticed traffic cones and concrete slabs placed at intervals down my road.  Surely the local council were not doing road works this week, I thought.  Later I discovered that cones have appeared all around because gutter drain covers have been stolen.  Personally I have never lifted one but I assume there pretty heavy, so whoever did this couldn’t have just parked late one night in a car, this operation would have had to be planned, needing a van and a number of people to help.

Money is tight for us all I know, but stealing like this in such quantities is going to cause the already overstretch local council serious issues as they try to replace them (I wonder how long this will actually take).  It is also of course very dangerous having these gaping holes exposed, the people who have done this really don’t care about others or animals that could fall in.

Whoever stole them will hopefully get a decent price at a scrap yard, as this might stop them coming for the ones they left or worse start nicking road signs.  One thing that did cross my mind is that the cones could have had tinsel and other decorations draped on them to make them look more festive (it’s just an idea).

And Now For Something Completely Different…….

My excitement level reached 11 this week when I spotted a Blue Tit in the garden.  I haven’t seen one for months; they are always such a lovely sight.  What really would have made this week feel complete is if I saw a Robin, sadly this amateur armchair Twitcher has not seen a red breast for quite a while.

And Finally…….

Senior moment this week, all the minutes wasted looking for a new electric toothbrush bought that morning.  I looked everywhere, including on the floor searching in nooks and crannies only stopping when I saw the device standing charging where I left it.  I am wondering which government department I can complain to and get a refund on those wasted minutes.
