Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East London (The NEXT Chapter).
Week 284 Saturday 23rd until Friday 29th November 2019.
This week has been a tough one. Last Saturday Aries the adopted Hamster didn’t seem very well. A trip to the vets confirmed that she has a couple of tumors on her tummy and that nothing can be done. There had not been any indication of discomfort when she sat/walked or ran in my hands!
“Happier times, hanging with my friend”.
Unfortunately we had to stop the painkiller medication after a 1 am visit to the surgery because of diarrhoea (this cleared up soon after). Over the course of the week we visited the surgery a couple of times for her to be examined and for us to learn how to care for such a small creature. A heating pad underneath the clear plastic storage crate (filled with sawdust, bedding and other things that are familiar to her) to keep her warm has really been beneficial.
“Keeping her warm”.
As an animal lover all I want is for her to be happy and comfortable. Sadly her quality of life has gone downhill in the last 24 hrs. This has meant that my friend and I have made the very tough and upsetting decision to take her one last time to the vets on Sunday morning. Of course we would prefer her to fall asleep naturally, but if not we are booked in for that final appointment.
“Sitting in the waiting room, on broken chairs”.
It’s so sad that will never understand how special she has been to this sufferer of mental health issues. She has given me so much and never asked for anything. When I rang work I did feel a little silly because I wasn’t talking about a cat, dog or something large. This is a tiny Hamster! But that Hamster has really helped me. I am not ashamed to say that I feel very sad and have already started to grieve the loss of something (one) I love.
“I think she knows shes loved”.
And Now For Something Completely Different……
“Dreaming of nuts”.
Last Saturday was the 56th Anniversary of my fave TV of all time Doctor Who. In honour (and not, because I am boring and don’t go out very often) I have started a full (all 56 years) re-watch. I know it’s just a TV programme and not important in the grand scheme of life. But the programme has not only entertained but even been a comfort during bleak times.
“I wonder what she was thinking when this was taken”.
I could go on and on about why I love the show so much! But I better save that for my 5th article for DWAS due out in Feb next year. For now I’ll enjoy lying in bed watching the black and white adventures of a slightly grumpy 1st Doctor (William Hartnell), travelling in time and space with his granddaughter and her two teachers on a small production budget. On the anniversary we were treated to the first full trailer for series 12 (or 38 for old fans like me) which premieres on New Year’s Day 2020. I am really looking forward to big budget, all colour adventures of the 13th Doctor (Jodie Whitaker) and her friends.
“Thank you, little girl for everything. Its time for you to rest”.
And Finally……
“A pre show pint and Ice Cream”.
MOZ said “my little thing is so sensitive”. She was talking about her tablet!
“Cast and crew signed the wall. I spotted Miriam”.
My friend it seems is fluent in gibberish because she said “batch wattery” instead of watch battery. Her guide to this special language will be available at Crimbum in a rubbish bin near you!
“The set is ready for the second half”.
“There’s a little ice round your ring”! MOZ was talking about a frozen bagel she had been defrosting.
“Should be writing this, but very distracted. By the original”.
