Week 278 Saturday 12th until Friday 18thOctober 2019.
First this….
“From me to Mum”.
At the time of writing i only need 83 views to reach 2000 this year. A few weeks ago when the stats showed that the figures had passed the grand total for 2018 of 1772, there a small spark of pride for a couple of seconds. Thank you for reading and helping to beat 2018’s total. It would be lovely if you could help me reach (and pass) 2000 views by the end of the year. Thanking you in advance.
Now, let’s carry on with the ramble….
“21 again”.
It’s my mums B’day on 17th October, Happy B’day Mum. There will be more about those celebrations next week; it’s all content, after all! This week is also the 1st anniversary that my friend and I adopted a hamster, who we were told was 4 months old when we decided to bring her home. This small creature is so much more than a tiny ball of fluff that runs around eating (and pooing) all the time. She’s very much therapy, I have read serious articles which state that being close or around animals can help relieve stress.
“From the twins”.
I can confirm this dwarf hamster has really helped me. For instance, I get home regularly late due to trains being messed up (yet again!), or just stressed because of work. But how can I not smile and feel better when I see her face poking out of the mound of bedding that she has molded into her nest. We have a large clear storage crate full of sawdust with plenty of things for her to play with and hide inside. Sometimes she craves interaction running up and down my arms or from hand to hand (which we call juggling. Don’t worry she is never thrown into the air). Other occasions she just burrows into the sawdust and sleeps. Knowing that this little creature is completely reliant on me to look after her, keep her healthy and happy helps me with my emotional state. It’s really a two-way relationship, but I definitely feel I have the better deal.
“This little lady is a real tonic for me”.
It is at this point i should give an honorary mention to Spike the Cat who put up with me for 15 years living in a flat in Surrey. He now lives a happy retirement with friends. Hopefully I will see him before Crimbum.
“Watching me at work”.
In conclusion, if you are feeling stressed I prescribe quality time with any animal. It doesn’t matter whether it’s stroking a Cat, seeing a Humpback beach the surface of the mighty ocean or watching a Hamster scurry around! It makes me feel better.
“Pretty evening going home”.
And Now For Something Completely Different……
This week I suspect I looked like the village idiot that had been given enough change or found it in the gutter to buy a ticket and escape the village (and no before anyone asks, I wasn’t being chased by a weather balloon!). I was trying to write this shiz while sitting on a train but found that I couldn’t concentrate because the podcast I was listening to was just making me laugh so much (for full transparency I was listening to Gossipmongers).
“A hitchhiker”.
At the next station stop the carriage filled up, this is when I became a little self-conscious about giggling like a naughty schoolchild at the rude things being said on the podcast. Even staring out of the window watching the world pass by didn’t stop me from laughing and smirking like a loon. It was at this point I felt disapproving side glances from others (this would be about 14 mins into the podcast). It doesn’t normally bother me that I look stupid, you only have to look at any picture to understand that. But that particular morning, on that train I really felt very on show. All I could do was quickly change the podcast to something interesting and less funny. When it was time to get off I actually felt relieved.
Not to self, be careful what I listen to in public in future!
And Finally……
“Jbomb is very proud of his new picture”.
Said very innocently to my friend that, “there was moisture in the crack”. Of course there was a smutty laugh. That stopped when she turned around and I showed her my reusable bendy straw. I’m only trying to save the planet!
“Looking up during the morning”.
I walked into the middle of a slightly shocking sounding conversation; the first thing I heard was a woman saying “tits on nuts”. I was assured that this wasn’t as interesting as it sounded. She was talking about Blue tits on her birdfeeder.
“I know how to enjoy myself while on the road”.
Travelling away from London on the M40, I saw a car that had a second registration plate under its actual number plate which said “OLD FART”. I also noticed that some clever dick had written in the dirt on the back of a van “David Yogurt”.
“Trying to write this shiz, while laughing a lot to this podcast”.
