Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East, West and Central London & Essex (The NEXT Chapter).
Week 255 Saturday 4th until Friday 10thMay 2019.
From Wednesday 8th until Tuesday 14th of May I have a friend visiting from Canada (via Scotland). This means that for the next two blogs I am going to pretend to be a tourist in London, a city I have spent far too long in.
First a little background (It’s all content). In 1986 while visiting Canada I travelled on the Trans Canadian railway from Toronto to Vancouver and back again. At Thunder Bay a woman got on who was also travelling to British Columbia. For the next three days we spent every hour together. Saying goodbye to my new friend April in Vancouver was emotional and difficult. I felt I knew her so well even though we had actually only known each other a couple of days.
I am so pleased to report that we remained friends ever since, first using snail mail, then emails and now social media. We don’t have a lot of contact, but my Thunder Bay friend has been a constant in my life ever since. Not a single Crimbum or bday goes by without me receiving a card, no matter where I have lived. When April announced last year she was making her first visit to the UK, meeting family in Scotland before arriving in London (then onto France and Germany) I knew we would spent time together. I am really looking forward to spending time with my friend after all these years, as well as seeing the capital through her eyes.
So this is “Part One of pretending to be a tourist in London”.
“April, found a Teleport near London Bridge Station”.
“April fingering Tower Bridge in the rain”.
“Admiring St Paul’s, which was designed by a relative of mine. And meeting the “Fearless Girl” in Paternoster Square.
“On the top deck of the bus to visit Nelson on top of his column”.
“April, checking out her new London pad!”.
“For some strange reason, we were not on the guest list when we visited”.
“Checking to see if this will fit under her coat to take home”.
“What the time asked April?”. Watching the Hamster wheel go round”.
“When in London on a rainy day, always eat Ice Cream”.
Aprils adventures in London continue next week……..
And Finally……
Thought MOZ said “so shits”. She actually said “associates”.
