Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East London & Surrey.

Week 372, Saturday 31st July until Friday 6th August 2021.

This week is a hotch potch of ideas, it really is a very ramble.

“I do love Pooh”.

Driving to my sisters this week it took an hour and a half to travel 2 miles, it was one of those queue when I would have to turn off the engine, just sit and waited.  Luckily I had a great CD compilation and podcasts to keep me entertained.  There were children in the car in front who were so bored that they were waving at anyone who was a fool enough to respond.  You have guessed it, i was that fool.  This resulted in them to continue to wave back again and again and again.  I never want to appear rude, especially to children so I felt I had to wave back, when I wasn’t crawling a couple of metres forward of course.

“Enjoyed the cinema with (L to R) Will, Jbomb, Anoodle and Lizzie”.

The highway authorities really were trolling me and each and every driver, as the speed limit signs above our heads said 50 miles an hour.  I was barely doing 10 when I rolled forward every now and then.  I have travelled over the Dartford Bridge many times; this was a rarity because I was able to actually appreciate the view (when the kids were not waving) every time I stopped for 30 seconds or so.  Crossing the bridge I always feel like I have been held up by Dick Turpin because of the toll (currently £2.50 between 6am to 10 PM.  This is the same travelling in the opposite direction when using one of the two Dartford tunnels).  I was told a long time ago that the toll was originally supposed to have ended when the cost of the bridge had been recouped.  In the old days there were terrible queue every day because to pay the toll cash would be handed to a person in a booth.  Nowadays it’s a lot quicker because of Number Plate Recognition, but sitting in that long queue reminded me of the days of handing hard earned cash over to a hot and miserable highways employee stuck in a booth for hours on end.  When I arrived at my sisters before I could say hello, I needed to rush into the smallest room in the house.

“I didn’t let them play with the superglue, honest”.

That really wasn’t very interesting.  Let’s try this.

“It’s always nice to see small creatures”.

I enjoy watering the garden.  When I was up at mums recently my sister (my other sister) was pleased that I wanted to go out and do this daily chore.  At home I go back and forth filling up a 10 litre watering can multiple times to ensure that the plants and growing veg stay alive.  But this week all that has changed, because an outside tap has been fitted.  The delight of turning the tap and walking around with a hose is great.  I am such a simple creature with simple pleasures; this action really makes my attempt at gardening so much better.

Maybe this will be more interesting.

“.“Someone locally has been very creative”.

The start of my working week was stressful; during the very first call I had a nose bleed.  I struggled, but managed to finish the call while shoving tissues up my nose as blood dripped on the calendar and plain white scrap paper.  After the call I was able to take a few minutes out to stop the flow, then carrying on with the rest of another horrible working day.  That wasn’t the start of the week I expect.

No.  None of the above has really been very good.

“Further down the road”.

And Now For Something Completely Different……

In the shower this week (I have had more than one shower over the last seven days.  In fact I actually had a bath with bubbles, my first in many years which was relaxing and lovely) I started to think about week 400 of this ramble.  Afterwards I worked that milestone will be on 18th February 2022, I really need to do something very special for that blog.

“This blog is affecting me”.

The idea I have come up with is to find out how many words I have written since 2014.  Maybe look at the TV/films and music list working out what I have enjoyed the most (and least).  Week 400 will probably not interest anyone but me.  But it’s a project that will keep me occupied and off the streets.  At the time of writing there are just 28 weeks left (20 until Crimbum, if you’re interested). I have watched.  It could be really interesting to me and no one else.

“Looking up”.

Maybe this is my queue to stop writing this shiz, and start compiling the anniversary ramble.

And Finnally……

“He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother”.

My fave line in a prog/film watched this week was….

“You know they call it hippity-hop music, but it don’t make me wanna go hippity-hop!”.

Are you able to guess from the list below, what piece of visual entertainment this speech came from?  There is no prize, just the fact that you watch the same rubbish as me.  And if you’re really strange, close your eyes and imagine me puckering up and coming in for a sloppy snog.

“What’s that smell?”.
