Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East London.
Week 360, Saturday 8th until Friday 14th May 2021.

This week I visited the hospital again to have my foot looked at. At the entrance there were four queues, one for Covid testing, the second for maternity, the third for general appointments and finally emergencies. My heart sank at the length of queue three, line two and four were a lot shorter. I did wondered if I over inflated my lardy stomach would the security guard take pity on me thinking I was overly preggers, ready to burst and welcome me into the hospital with a smile from behind his mask. Of course I joined queue three and shuffled forward slowly. If this is what it’s like to get in to a hospital, it’s going to be horrible at airports this summer trying to get back in to the country after families have enjoyed their holiday in the Falkland Islands**

If your worried about the foot, it’s doing well, I go back next week and fingers crossed I will be able to return with gratitude the boot and crutches. Towards the end of the appointment I pulled out a large clear empty water bottle that I have repurposed as a sharps container for all the used hypodermic needles that I had to stab myself with. The question of disposed was the first thing I asked when given them, I was told to visit my GP or a Chemist. Both of these and the hospital where I was originally given the medication have turned me away.

As I expected the Doctor at the hospital also didn’t want my present. He did helpfully state that maybe the Red Cross would take them and send them to Africa and I quote “because they don’t have anything”. What I couldn’t work out is did he think the injections were unused, so they might be useful overseas. I had made it clear they were used; I really couldn’t be bothered to try and explain again.

My idea for disposal now is to double or treble bag them and hit them with a hammer. Then wearing thick gardening gloves sift through collect the plastic which could be cleaned and put in the recycling bin. The needles would be collected, taped up and disposed of at a later more suitable date. Or alternatively I could wait until I can visit one of my sisters because she has a number sharps box.

**Seriously this is a location I would love to visit one day.
And Now For Something Completely Different……
There is a beast roaming around at night in this area. I say this as one morning while feeding the birds I discovered that the garden container that the feed is stored in has large scratches indicating that something has tried to get inside. The feed is all in tubs nothing is loose; it’s been like this for over a year.

The guilty party must be one of the regular cats that visit or possibly a fox. TV naturalist Chris Packham would know immediately from the look of the scratches who was guilty, but I suspect he’s busy preparing for Springwatch next week. Nothing has happened since the original incident; I will keep an eye on further damage, and look quizzically at all the neighbours cats I enjoy seeing daily. It’s rare that I see a fox during the day in the garden, there are plenty of them roaming around under cover of dark. Damage like this happens, it can’t be helped it’s more annoying and inconvenient. But this happens when loving and enjoying nature.

As I mentioned last week if you are a Woman who will be 40 on 27 April 2022, then TV documentary director Rachel Tracy really would love to chat about turning this milestone age. All Rachel’s contact info is below.

And Finally……
Flicking through a book about how to gardening in small space. There was a chapter I read initially as “Coronavirus garden”. It actually said “Carnivorous garden”.

While in a well know high street newsagent/bookshop, I overheard an old couple as they passed. The man said “I’ve won £60 on a scratch card. The woman replied “I’m getting half”, after a short pause she said “did you hear me”. Sadly they were out of earshot, so I don’t know if the man responded.

I laughed a lot when my friend said “Tomorrow, I’ll show you my spikey ball“. Don’t worry she was talking about small massage balls that she had ordered.

My friend asked me to trim her hair. Were still talking, maybe that’s the career I could look at doing. Anything’s better than working in the call centre.
