Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East London.
Week 338 Saturday 5th until Friday 11thDecember 2020.

HAPPY B’DAY to Nico and Sigrida

I have never been fashionable; in fact I have fought against fashion ever since I was able to dress myself. Looking in my wardrobe I don’t have a huge amount of outfits, I know what’s comfortable and wear those clothes regularly. It’s taken me a long time to not care what others think of how I dress. This includes facemasks. It was only while thinking about this week’s ramble did I realise how many face coverings I have. A year ago, if you had told me that I would own a number of different masks, I probably would have laughed and told you not to have another drink.

The big issue I have with masks is it’s very difficult to tell the emotions of other people. Because of this I seem to be overly emoting with my eyes and forehead. Could this over use of these muscles be a new exercise fad, I wonder how much eye movement would be needed to burn a single calorie.

I have got some disposable masks, but try to use reusable / washable ones. The problem with more masks being worn is the extra rubbish on the streets. All over the capital pavement are littered discarded masks, especially the blue and white surgical looking ones. Dropping rubbish has always annoys me, why does someone think it’s acceptable to just drop a mask. Are they walking round without one on, or are they carrying a number of spares changing into a fresh one at regular intervals. Masks are being sold everywhere; everyone is desperate for a slice of the PPE pie. Mask manufacturers must be making a mint out of the current situation.

As I mentioned at the start, I really have no fashion sense. My fave face covering is one with the 13th Doctor and companions from Doctor Who printed on the material. Others my age might be embarrassed, I really don’t care. I do spread the love (not the virus) and wear all my mask collection equally. During this weather a face covering keeps the face cosy and snug, I’m not looking forward to wearing one next summer when its 30c. Maybe I can store some ice cubes or chips between the mask and my face to cool me down. Could that be an idea that makes be Millions?

And Now For Something Completely Different……
I’m not sure how I spell my name. My nephews and niece call me Dee Dee or is it Di Di or DD. This confusion has arisen because I have been wrapping gifts that Santa has sent round for them and asked me to wrap because he is extremely busy. What do I write on the tags? What is my name?

And Finally……

Crouching down in the rain between a Bush and the car trying to untie the cover over the car. I shouted to my friend a little too loudly that “the bush was wet and dripping all over me”.
My friend said “she couldn’t get her finger in to pinch the end”. She was trying to find the end of the kitchen foil in the dispenser. Later she said “my tip got stuck!”. I looked up she was fiddling with an interchangeable head screwdriver.
