Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East London (Lockdown the Sequel: Week Two).
Week 334 Saturday 7th until Friday 13thNovember 2020.

This week looks like it will the shortest ramble ever (hurrah! I can imagine some readers thinking). I won’t lie; I haven’t felt mentally great (everyone’s talking about their mental health these days. So why shouldn’t I). Also I have posted a blog every week over the last Three Hundred and Thirty Four weeks, and I didn’t want this one to be the first week I missed.

This is the second week of lockdown the sequel. I haven’t been out of the house apart from nipping in the garden to keep the bird feeders topped up. Or to rush out and politely ask the local gang of squirrel vandal from stealing all the nuts and destroying the feeders meant for birds.

Since March I have been part of an employee virtual wellness group that shares pictures and comments about being crafty and creative while locked down and working from home. Some people publish pictures of baking, knitting and sewing, model making, general photography and art. The only things I have posted are my attempts at making a mess on paper and calling them drawings and paintings.

The group is doing a virtual exhibition; I was asked if I would submit some pictures. Because I couldn’t decide on what to send, I emailed a number of pictures and said “pick what you like”. I also needed to write a piece about how drawing has helped my mental health and wellbeing during this period. I got lovely reply saying that the pictures were “great” (not my choice of word) but the passage I wrote was a little too negative. Yes I smiled at that, and replied that they could write what they wanted; it really didn’t matter how they described the pictures.

I’m not sure when this exhibition is taking place, what drawings and paintings they will use. It will also be interesting to see what they wrote. I suspect this is not a public exhibition, its probably going to only be available on the work closed loop internet. Exhibiting is something I have wanted to do for a while; maybe in the future I could arrange one somewhere. Maybe this virtual one will persuade me to pull my finger out (That’s a positive ending).

And Finally……
An email I received this week started “Sorry for adding this to your crazy workload during this time”. Luckily there enquiry was simple, they didn’t add extra work to my already over the top workload.

I spoke to a person with the surname “Boggle“. Apologies to anyone reading this with the noble family name Boggle. Surly this is the reason deed polls were created. During a week when I haven’t smiled a lot, talking to this person brightened things up for a few minutes.
