Misfits Mid-Life Crisis Adventures in East, North East, Central, South West London. West Sussex (inc Crawley), Essex (inc Basildon) and Surrey (The NEXT Chapter).
Week 276 Saturday 28th September until Friday 4thOctober 2019.
In 1979 The Boomtown Rats realised the classic “I Don’t Like Mondays” never has a truer phrase been uttered (in my opinion). Monday this week (30th September) will always remembered for all the wrong reasons. The following is how the day deteriorated!
“This little girl always makes me smile”.
Early morning the District line was suspended between West Ham and Whitechapel due to a scumbag stealing cabling in the Bow area. There action resulted in a major signal failure causing tens of thousands of commuters and including myself wishing they had stayed in bed (not all together, that would just be smutty).
“Hanging around in North East London”.
The journey to West Ham normally take 20 mins, that morning it took over an hour of stopping and starting. The whole journey I stood in a packed carriage with a school child constantly bumping into me. Seriously I didn’t blame the child for being annoying, there was only one person responsible, the thief that stole the cabling.
“Its one slow step at a time”.
At West Ham things got worse as a few hundred unhappy people (from a couple of trains, with more arriving regularly) shuffling along the wet platform like Empire penguins. This torture was made worse when a man pulled out his e-cigarette and started to breathe out huge clouds of vapor. A number of very frustrated already angry people (inc me) looked on disapprovingly, but of course no one said anything! I bet I wasn’t the only person who hoped he might trip on the wet stairs leaving the e-cig wedged in his throat. By the way I did reach work extremely late (I was beyond caring) feeling like i had already completed a full day’s work!
“I really was at breaking point when this was taken”.
Going home was a little slow, but more normal than the morning until I arrived at Barking and discovered that nothing at that time was running further down the line. After waiting far too long, I decided to get a bus “because there’s plenty of them!”. For the next hour I stood under a leaky bus shelter while the electronic timetable continually lied stating that the next bus (that I could use) was “due”, none of them arrived! During this time I felt so desperate that I considered walking the 40 mins home in the rain. However after returning to the station because of frustration, I managed to get a tube. Once I arrived home it had taken a total of three and a half hours to travel across town.
“My view on Tuesday from bed”.
I have never been a Monday fan, it really is a terrible excuse for a 24 hour period. For me last Monday will be remembered as one of my worst days ever! Life really shouldn’t be this difficult living in a major capital city. By the way I was so upset and depressed on Tuesday, that i didn’t go to work. Only getting out of bed at five pm to travel to a meeting in Stratford, which then got cancelled.
And Now For Something Completely Different……
“I love Jodie, I love this shirt”.
There must have been a group memo that I missed, because so many people have changed their wardrobe this last week. Not there bedroom furniture, I mean there clothes. The slight change in temperatures is a cue that autumn has started. As a result people have started to wear a number of layers.
“Making new friends”.
Meanwhile I’m still walking around as if its May or June. I’m very lucky (or cursed) because generally I don’t feel the cold. Due to not wanting to stand out, I have had to slightly change what I am wearing. T-shirts are the new norm instead of vest tops, as well as carrying a fleece only wearing it when I really have to! In a few weeks I’ll unpack the tights (this won’t be for a couple of weeks I suspect). I realise that I shouldn’t care what others think I just want to blend into the background and not be noticed. If this can be achieved with a fleece and tights (don’t worry I’ll be wearing other clothes, promise) then that’s good.
“A beautiful evening meal in central London”.
Driving my nephew and niece travelling at the correct speed limit. My nephew shouted that we were going as fast as a lawn mower. He’s only five; and has a bright future in comedy.
“Lunge, Calamity and Shuffle back together”.
My niece pulled away as I went to kiss her, saying I smelt! Giggling slightly embarrassed I laughed, as far as I knew I didn’t! Later my friend said as I leaned over to tell her something “you really smell of garlic!”. That’s what Anoodle must have been referring to (at least I hope that’s what she meant).
“I am always happy to bump in to my first love”.
It was the return of Ariel Yoga last weekend, so lovely seeing Richard (the instructor) again. And great to be hanging upside down in the sling for five mins of the two hour session.
“We loved Fleabag”.
“Cake, and wine, whats not to like”.
This last week I completed another orbit around the sun. Apart from dodgy knees, a bad back (now and then) and a clicky fingers i don’t feel 51. I feel 80!
“No wonder this shiz is so late, i’m watching to many progs about cake”.
